How Take One Works

Replay the Tour

How to Film

Use your phone. Selfie view works fine. For the sharpest picture, prop up the rear camera about an arm and a half away at eye level, facing a window.

Don't stop to fix a mess-up. Restart the sentence and keep going. Take One keeps the good take.

What Counts as a Video

One raw take up to 3 minutes is one video. Longer takes, where your plan allows them, use one video per 3 minutes started, so a 7-minute take uses 3. An edit that stops on our end doesn't count.

Notes and Revisions

On a paid plan you get a storyboard before anything renders. Type what you want changed in plain English, like “cut the part about pricing,” and render when it looks right. Pro and Studio can turn on Autopilot for an upload to skip the storyboard.

Each video includes 2 rounds of changes. A 3rd round or later uses one video. Changes that fail on our end never count. After a video is finished, Request Changes on its page opens the storyboard again, and those rounds come from the same 2.

The free edit comes back in Full, Minimal and Clean, without notes or revisions.

Asking for an Animation

Browse the animation library. To ask for one, name it in a note, like “when I mention my three tips, use Sticky notes.” Take One tries to honor it, but it's a request, not a guarantee: if an animation doesn't fit the line or the frame, it may pick another.

Your Brand

Add your name, handle, logo, colors and font in Your Brand, on every plan. Changes apply to your next new video. Videos already in progress, and their revisions, keep the brand they started with.

How Long We Keep Your Files

Download anything you want to keep. You can delete a video any time from My Videos. The full details are in the privacy policy.

Trending Sounds

TikTok and Instagram only let you add trending sounds inside their own apps. Download the video and add the sound when you post.
